Dobrepolje
Dobrepolje, whose centre is the town of Videm, is a vast karst polje stretching along the length of two interconnecting valleys lying to the south of Ljubljana. It is well known for its scenic attractions.
The best known are its underground karst caves, particularly the Podpeč Cave (Podpeška jama).
The area next to the Church of St. Anthony (Cerkev sv. Antona) above the village of Zdenska vas is the site of Slovenia's largest linden grove, which has been declared a monument. The Church of St. Florian (Cerkev sv. Florjana) in the village of Ponikve is adorned with two of the country's most precious 16th century Baroque altars. The church in the town of Videm, built in 1844, houses several works by the Slovenian master painters Matevž Langus and Štefan Šubic. Its main altar is a work by Ivan Zajc, who also sculpted the Prešeren Monument in Ljubljana.
