KAMNIK – ZG. STRANJE – STOLNIK (461 m) – TUNJICE – KAMNIK (MTB/trekking/gravel)

Scenic ride through a quiet village in the hinterland of Kamnik. Gratifying climb to the mighty baroque church. We invite you to an exciting trip to the lobby of the Alps!

The tour starts in the old town of Kamnika, in front of the Tourist Information Centre (TIC). From here, it is just a short ride along a gravel road to Kamniška Bistrica, part of which makes up the Kolesarčkova pot learning trail. It is 2 km long with several stations along the way that inform about the local flora and fauna, and the geological past that carved the landscape.

The start is mainly flat and increasingly scenic, with the trail offering views with the Kamnik-Savinja Alps as a backdrop. On clear days especially, you will probably enjoy the view after you leave the road connecting Kamnik and the Kamniška Bistrica valley and climb up to Stolnik, the village on top of the hill. The ride will take you across vast meadows brimming with blooming flowers in the summer, and the hills and the Kamnik-Savinja Alps in the background are sure to catch your eye on more than one occasion.

Following a scenic (brief gravel road) descent into Tunjice, you will continue for one last climb - to St. Anne, a mighty church in the late Baroque style. From here, it is just a short ride to the Zdravilni gaj Tunjice natural healing resort, but you will need to make arrangements for a visit in advance.
