Adventure sports in Ljubljana and the surrounding area
Slovenia is a top destination for sports and other activities in the great outdoors. Ljubljana and the surrounding countryside offer a huge variety of adrenaline-boosting adventures to get your heart beating faster.
You don't have to go far from the city to find a truly diverse range of experiences. The common denominator is nature, where the varied terrain offers great opportunities on land, in the water and in the air.
Mountain biking

Visit Ljubljana Bike Park in Podutik, Golovec (a tree-covered hill to the south-east of the city) or the Krvavec Summer Park and launch yourself down a range of attractive mountain bike trails. Three pump tracks are available in the city itself: in the Spodnja Šiška, Bežigrad and Fužine districts.

Walk among the treetops at GEOSS Adventure Park – where you can even sleep in the trees. Other attractions include a 915-metre zip line. As well as treetop adventures and mountain biking, Krvavec Summer Park offers you the opportunity to race downhill by mountain go-kart, monster roller (a kind of giant scooter) or rubber ring, and to have a go at slacklining and many other activities.
Water sports in Slovenia

Slovenia is one of the most popular destinations in Europe for white-water sports. The upper course of the river Soča offers one of the best rafting experiences in the world. Alpine Slovenia, with its rivers, streams, waterfalls and mountain gorges, offers opportunities for canyoning, riverboarding, kayaking, canoeing and white-water rafting.
Even more exciting outdoor activities
The area offers adventure opportunities to suit every taste. You can fly in a hot-air balloon above Ljubljana and its environs. Or explore the wonderful subterranean world of karst caves. Or ride the rapids of the Sava at Tacen by kayak or raft.

Hillwalking and climbing are among the most popular sports in Slovenia. Alpine Slovenia offers numerous natural climbing areas and several excellent via ferratas. Paragliding from mountain peaks is also popular.
