With the Gourmet Ljubljana Tasting menu, Urban Ljubljana, we begin by paying tribute to one of our historically important meeting points: the fish market. In the past, and still today, fresh fish from local rivers and the beautiful Adriatic sea (only 100 kilometres away) are on offer daily. The cold appetiser is the octopus salad from Taverna Tatjana, which locals love. Chickpeas, which are found in this innovative salad, have been cultivated around Ljubljana for hundreds of years, long before more productive crops like corn and beans were introduced to the region.

You will also be able to enjoy the famous traditional Slovenian dish štruklji, rolled dumplings with a variety of fillings, which are produced daily by Moji štruklji Slovenije, and are also available at their shop at the Ljubljana market. Štruklji are among the most outstanding representatives of special Central European dishes, and can be eaten as an entrée or a dessert, known as "močnato" or "Mehlspais" in Austria.

As the main course of Urban Ljubljana menu, you will be able to try the much loved classic of veal liver with onions and homemade bread, prepared by Gostilna Mihovec, a “gostilna” (tavern) with an outstanding family tradition of elevating authentic Slovenian dishes. Historically, Slovenian dishes have been very sustainable, adhering to nose-to-tail eating practices. Today, we recognise liver as a superfood due to its high nutritional value.

And to round off Urban Ljubljana we are very proud to offer a dessert created by the bakery of Slovenia’s most celebrated chef, Ana Roš, best female chef in the world (Best Chef Awards 2020 - 2023) and owner of the only “three Michelin star restaurant in Slovenia”.
