With less than a month to go until the start of the NLB 28th Ljubljana Marathon 2024, a significant milestone has been reached: over 14,000 runners from Slovenia and abroad have already registered.
Due to the expected increase in participants, this year's program will be slightly adjusted. The starts of the runs on Sunday, October 20th, will not be simultaneous, allowing runners a better experience both when arriving at the starting line and a safer transition from the finish area on Kongresni trg square towards the service facilities on Trg republikesquare. The 10 km run will therefore start at 8:00 AM, while the 21 and 42-kilometer runs will start an hour later at 9:00 AM.
The day before, the youngest participants will have their turn - children aged 2 to 5 will run on a 200-meter track, while primary and secondary school students will compete in longer ''school runs''.
The marathon, which has brought crowds of runners to the streets of Ljubljana at the end of October since 1996, is becoming more and more popular each year. Initially intended primarily for local runners, it soon grew into an internationally recognized competition.
