EDWARD CLUG - CLUSTER

Born in Beiuș (Romania), Edward Clug is considered one of the most important creators of contemporary dance theatre. Possessing a distinctive artistic vision, he addresses a wide range of existential and social issues, as well as the sensitive dynamics of human relationships. He is the recipient of numerous national and international awards. In 2022, in recognition of his contribution to the development of culture and art, he was awarded the Silver Order of Merit of the Republic of Slovenia and the Order of Cultural Merit of Romania. He achieved international recognition in 2005 with the balletRadio & Juliet, which became a worldwide hit. His successes as a choreographer have also brought international attention to the SNG Maribor Ballet, where he has worked since 1991. Cluster is a series of three dance performances, which were originally created for the Netherlands Dance Theatre. With their demands for virtuosity, Clug’s choreographies will highlight the most penetrating studies of the human body and movement, while a selection of compositions by Slovene composer Milko Lazar and rock band Radiohead will provide a touch of intimacy and personal expression. They will reveal a glimpse of unfulfilled fantasies, visions of the most hidden desires and hopes, and the secret power that, like a dormant substance, we often carry in ourselves.
