Cankarjev dom
Cankarjev Dom is the biggest cultural centre in Ljubljana. Throughout the year, Cankarjev Dom hosts world-renowned artists of different genres, music, performance arts and film festivals, as well as various exhibitions.
Slovenian National Opera and Ballet Theatre
The Ljubljana orchestra as well as opera and ballet ensembles perform an extensive repertoire of classical and modern works. Per season they give approximately 150 performances at home and abroad and they collaborate successfully with foreign producers and composers.
Slovenian Philharmonic
The Slovenian Philharmonic takes pride in its rich history as it is one of the oldest in the world. This is the place where Gustav Mahler started his career as a young conductor. To this day, the Slovenian Philharmonic orchestra regularly collaborates with world-renowned conductors and soloists.
Stožice Arena
The Stožice Sports Arena has a capacity of welcoming approximately 12,000 spectators. The arena with its modern design holds not only sports events but also concerts of popular pop and rock artists from all over the world.
Križanke
The Križanke Outdoor Theatre, an architectural marvel from the 13th century which was given its current image by the famous Slovenian architect Jože Plečnik, is the seat and the main venue of the Ljubljana Festival. During the warmer months various pop, rock and jazz concerts take place here.
Kino Šiška Centre for Urban Culture
Kino Šiška regularly holds concerts of indie rock, hip hop, metal, electronic music and other urban music genres. The programme is rounded off with exhibitions and performance art shows. Kino Šiška is also the venue of renowned festivals, such as Druga Godba and MENT.
Ljubljana Castle
The Ljubljana Castle is not only one of the main sights in Ljubljana, but also an important cultural venue. Throughout the year, numerous events take place in the castle, such as concerts, dancing, exhibitions and events intended for families.
Metelkova – Alternative Culture Centre
Metelkova is one of the most famous attractions in Ljubljana. The alternative culture centre, which rose from a squat in former army barracks, brings together a variety of creative practices and events. It is home to a number of clubs and art studios.
Grand Hotel Union
The beautiful Art Nouveau hotel is also home to various cultural events. Dance events, theatre plays and smaller concerts take place in the Grand Union Café, while bigger events, among others classical music concerts, are held in the picturesque Grand Union Hall.
