Martina Obid Mlakar is a jewellery designer and restorer. Her work involves combining the traditions of goldsmithing and silversmithing with modern materials, technologies and needs. She also explores the fields of sculpture, graphics and video. Her work is a search for beauty, elegance of form, stroke, thought and detail. It is also a search for the meaning and function that jewellery brings to our lives. Her design is an interweaving of many stories, reflections on life, writings about experiences with friends, encounters with books, the news of the day and the pulse of the street, as well as walks in nature. Her work has been accepted into important contemporary jewellery collections at home and abroad.
Her creations have been collected and published in books and have received accolades and awards from international panels of judges.
