The Japanese restaurant and café Maru serves typical Japanese dishes such as sushi, sashimi, miso soup, tempura, and teriyaki chicken. Every day, a different 'greeting from the chef' is served depending on what the fish market in Ljubljana has to offer. All the dishes served at the restaurant are also available for ordering or to take away.
Before chef Yoshihiko Fujita came to Slovenia, his mother made him some 800 pieces of origami for good luck. He started going by the nickname Yoshi later, when he was honing his culinary knowledge with the renowned Slovenian chef Janez Bratovž. Today, Yoshi is the head chef of the Japanese restaurant Maru, which is tucked away from the crowds in the heart of Upper Šiška. Nestled between the Acapulco bar and a fitness studio, Maru is famous for its superb Japanese cuisine, warm hospitality and a friendly ambience. Be sure to book a table before visiting.
