Ljubljana to host the ICCA Association Meetings Programme 2018
7 Jul 2017
We are proud to announce that Ljubljana was selected as the next host of the Association Meetings Programme, an educational and business event organized by ICCA which will attract around 150 meeting professionals to the Slovenian capital in early July 2018.
Following its new strategic plan, ICCA - the International Congress and Convention Association, whose mission is to be the global community and knowledge hub for the international association meetings industry, is seeking to deepen its links with international associations and, in cooperation with its member suppliers, co-shape the future and value of international events organized by associations. Part of this plan is also to invite representatives of associations both to the annual ICCA Congress and to the renewed ICCA AMP event, whose next edition is to be held in Ljubljana.
Within the marketing strategy of both the Ljubljana and the Slovenian Convention Bureau, bidding for and hosting events organized by industry associations aims at increasing the destinations' visibility and brands, as well as strengthening the international business connections. The ICCA AMP 2018 bid was supported by a project team comprising the Ljubljana Convention Bureau, the Slovenian Convention Bureau and other Slovenian ICCA members: Union Hotels, CD Congress Centre Ljubljana, GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre and Kompas DMC. The added value of this event is the participation of up to 30 association executives, to whom we will present the key advantages of Ljubljana as a congress destination, the major venues and suppliers, with an experiential add-on.
As stated by the organizer, the ICCA Association Meetings Programme is a prestigious event, intended for ICCA members' sales and marketing mid-level managers working with international associations through research, bidding, sales, marketing, ambassador programmes, or who provide organisational or technical services for these meetings, who want to:
- deepen their knowledge of association meetings,
- join high-level education with a chance to network with prospective clients, hearing first-hand about their objectives, working culture and needs,
- learn about latest trends and share best-practices.
Education focuses on relevant content from all sectors of the congress industry - from destination marketing and venue management to transport and technical support to meetings.
Ljubljana was officially announced as the destination of AMP 2018 at this year's conference in Fukuoka, Japan, held in the end of June. For this occasion Ljubljana Convention Bureau with the support of the partners has produced a short welcome video that you can see on the official website of the event.
