Ljubljana is hosting this year's annual conference by ABTA (Association of British Travel Agents), held from 22 to 23 September 2014 at the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre. The local event partners are SPIRIT Slovenia - Department of Tourism and Ljubljana Tourism - Convention Bureau.

The annual Travel Convention event by ABTA is one of the largest within the British tourism industry. It's focused on innovative initiatives for the tourism industry of the future, education and business networking. The choice of Ljubljana as this years' venue was of strategic importance due to the huge untapped potential of Slovenia and the wider region as recognized by its organizers.

The conference will be attended by cca. 450 delegates, including 25 journalists by leading British media outlets in the field of travel, brought to the event by its main media partner, The Telegraph. The hosts of the conference, Ljubljana and Slovenia, will be presenting their tourist offer to its participants and make sure they enjoy their stay.

On Sunday, 21 September the Travel Convention participants will be able to explore Slovenia and its capital city by attending optional trips to Bled and Postojna, a guided walking tour of Ljubljana and various sports activities. The programme on Sunday will be concluded by the evening gala event at Ljubljana Castle featuring an attractive cultural and entertainment program, an address by the Mayor of the Municipality of Ljubljana, Mr. Zoran Janković, and a banquet featuring traditional dishes of Ljubljana and Slovenia. On Monday, an evening party with a banquet will be organized for the participants in the unique ambient of the Križanke Summer Theatre.
