On 2-3 February 2017 the Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana hosted the international 2017 EFMD Conference for Deans and Directors General.

This year’s conference was held under the honorary patronage of the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr Borut Pahor, and provided an excellent opportunity to promote the Faculty of Economics, City of Ljubljana and Slovenia, as well as to exchange opinions and experience with the representatives of faculties and universities from all around the world.

EFMD, based in Brussels, is the largest international organization for Management Development. It brings together almost 900 institutional members of the academic and business communities in more than 86 countries. EFMD is an established and globally recognized organization for quality and for assessing the impact of quality on the management of business schools and other business programs. EFMD annually confers the highest international quality awards.

This year the honour to organize the event had been given to Ljubljana's EFMD member. According to FELU Dean, Professor Metka Tekavčič, Phd, the EFMD network facilitates much more than a traditional exchange of knowledge and experience. The conference provides a great opportunity for consolidating contacts among international partners and establishes a single academic area in charge of developing the global knowledge and education market that is committed to the highest quality in teaching, research, education for senior and top management, co-operation with the business world.

This year the special focus was given to the role of business education in a constantly changing world, the role of social responsibility in educational institutions, and social innovation. 

Lecturing at the conference were also Violeta Bulc, Msc, the European Commissioner for Transport, and Jeffrey Sachs, special adviser to the United Nations and professor at Columbia University in New York City.

Next year's conference is to be held in Munich, Germany.
