'Liquid Matter 2017' Conference at CD Congress Centre Ljubljana
14 Jul 2017
Between 17 and 21 July the 10th International Conference Liquid Matter 2017 will take place in Ljubljana, organized by the Jozef Stefan Institute and the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, University of Ljubljana.
More than 600 experts from the world's leading institutions in the field of liquids, foams, polymers, colloids, glass, active systems and biomaterials will meet at CD Congress Centre, one of the two large congress venues in Slovenia. At the conference two prestigious recognitions will be awarded to two outstanding scientists, the »EPS Liquid Matter Prize« to professor Jacob Klein (Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel) and the »EPJE de Gennes Lecture Prize« to professor Ramin Golestanianu (Oxford University, UK).
During the conference a science art exhibit entitled "Liquids" will be displayed at Ljubljanica River Krakovski nasip embankment along the Ljubljanica river, showcasing the scientists' visual material equipped with brief explanations.
Although all the topics of the conference are of extreme relevance one particular might be highlighted - these are the achievements in the field of active substances. Water is one of the most complex liquids and remains a constant challenge for scientists. We are pleased that at the conference the importance of water will be emphasized also in a slightly different way - during the breaks the participants will be drinking tap water as Ljubljana is one of the few European capitals with natural and high quality drinking water from the tap, which is not technologically processed.
The conference organizers consider this a great advantage of Ljubljana and Slovenia and would like to convey its important message to all meetings participants.
Ljubljana is a city that has long been aware of the value of clean drinking water – rambling our capital's streets both locals and tourists can quench their thirst for free at public drinking fountains, which operate from April to October. They are regularly maintained, while the water within the city's public water distribution system is regularly analyzed. You can check out where the public drinking fountain are located at the website of the Vo-ka public company or download the mobile application 'Tap Water Ljubljana' for iOS / Android).
We wish delegates of 'Liquid Matter 2017' conference a lot of high quality sessions, a good networking experience and a pleasant stay in our capital.
