ICCA statistics: Ljubljana ranks 64th on the world list of convention cities

The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), which collects statistical data on international conventions and publishes a ranking of the most popular destinations for international association meetings, ranked Ljubljana 64th on its 2009 list, five places higher than a year earlier.

Last year, Ljubljana hosted 26 conventions included in the ICCA survey and shared 64th place with Brisbane, Florence and New Delhi. On the list of top European convention cities Ljubljana ranked 35th, after Reykjavík and Porto, and shared its ranking position with Florence. The cities ranked immediately after Ljubljana were Belgrade, Dresden and Nice, which hosted one convention less than Ljubljana, and Graz, where two conventions less than in Ljubljana were held.
Organizers of international meetings favour Ljubljana not only due to its safety and attractiveness but also due to the fact that it has two large convention centres providing seating for 2,000 people each.
