Cankarjev Dom Cultural and Congress Centre: First Foyer Revamped

A partial makeover of Cankarjev dom (CD), the main Slovenian cultural and congress centre, has been concluded just on time for the largest association event taking place in Ljubljana this year – the 40th EDTNA/ERCA International Conference, which attracted close to 1,600 delegates.
Following the rearrangement and modernisation of the Second Foyer and Grand Reception Hall in previous years, the extensive renovation of the First Foyer was performed between June and September 2011. Works included glazing, stone-cutting, installations, painting and restoration, as well as the replacement of air conditioning and lighting, which incorporated state-of-the-art technologies.
The First Foyer, serving as the main logistics hub between the adjoining Maximarket department store passage, main CD halls, Small Gallery and CD Club, has thus upgraded its functionality as a new space for social events. The investment was worth 1,670,000 €.
