The Ljubljanica river embankment at Špica was renovated and landscaped as a park a few years ago. The park's name, Špica, translates as 'pointed tip' and refers to the embankment's pointed shape.

After the addition of caffé which opened on 30 June, Špica suddenly became packed with locals and city visitors, coming for a drink or two or an evening out on the town in these hot summer days. Špica now also began hosting regular dance evenings and some other more occasional events.

In the past, Špica was a town beach and Ljubljana Municipality has a plan for it to become one again. Due to its pleasant green surroundings and a large area paved with wood, it attracts numerous residents and visitors wanting to bask in the sun on fine weather days in any season of the year. Now that it also became the new summer hangout of people's choice, it's always lively there.
