Ljubljana Tourism won two silver awards at The Golden City Gate, an international competition and festival that recognizes excellence in promotional communication campaigns and innovative multimedia tools in tourism. The awards were given for two sports videos – one capturing behind-the-scenes moments of cycling stunts at last year’s Tour of Slovenia, and the other following Goran Dragić and young basketball players on a journey through Ljubljana’s green corners. A total of 167 entries from over 25 countries competed for the awards.

Ljubljana Tourism received two silver awards in the Art & Culture category at The Golden City Gate, an international competition held as part of the ITB Berlin tourism trade fair. The awards recognize two promotional videos: one showcasing behind-the-scenes moments of cycling choreographies and stunts at last year’s Tour of Slovenia, and the other following Goran Dragić on a journey through Ljubljana with young basketball players. The videos were created in collaboration with production companies McCann Slovenia, Karata Film, and BM Events Hub.
The video Cycling City reflects Ljubljana’s commitment to sports, culture, and innovation, which it proudly shares with the world. In 2024, Ljubljana further enhanced its international recognition by hosting the start of the third stage of the Tour of Slovenia. The video captures spectacular performances at iconic locations –ranging from cycling choreographies to adrenaline-fueled stunts –that uniquely combine sports, culture, and creativity. Using dynamic footage from various sources, including national television, helicopter shots from Eurosport, and original material, the video tells a compelling story of community and shared values. It is a tribute to Ljubljana’s sustainability efforts and its vision of a green and bright future.
The video Welcome to the City of Dragons highlights Ljubljana’s passion for sports, featuring none other than Goran Dragić – local hero and global basketball star, also known as The Dragon. His journey reflects Ljubljana’s core values: teamwork, passion, and dedication to excellence. In search of young basketball talents who could carry on his legacy, he embarks on a journey through Ljubljana, sharing his commitment to a green lifestyle and love for movement and exploration. Through the lens of basketball, the video brings to life Ljubljana’s green spaces, modern sports facilities, and dynamic energy, illustrating how sports connect communities and promote an active lifestyle.
