LJUBLJANA OFFICIALLY TAKES OVER THE TITLE OF THE EUROPEAN BEST DESTINATION 2022

Ljubljana has become the best among 20 excellent European destinations in Europe, which is a remarkable success. The award also means a lot to Mayor Zoran Janković, who is very proud of the fact that Ljubljana unites different people, and above all, welcomes everyone.

Ljubljana, the green wonder, as the capital was reffered to by the European Best Destinations*, was awarded with the title of the European Best Destination in the beginning of 2022. As many as 92% of votes came from travellers from other countries which proves the extraordinary international attractiveness of Ljubljana. The followers of social networks and the European Best Destinations website have chosen the Slovenian capital as the destination they would like to visit during their holidays this year among 20 other remarkable destinations.

Maximilien Lejeune, director of European Best Destinations, points out: "World travelers love Ljubljana. It boasts an exceptional quality of life, green areas, accessibility, and is a safe, tolerant, multicultural, optimistic, sporty, family-friendly destination. It is a role model for all European destinations."

This year, the European Best Destinations organization promotes Ljubljana as the most trendy travel destination, visited by delegations of mayors, environmental consultants and urban planners, and at disposal to all culture, art, entertainment and nature lovers as well as others who wish to experience and understand this green miracle of Europe.

The prestigious international award is another proof that Ljubljana is becoming a global role model for urban destinations around the world and is recognizable throughout the year as an innovative, vibrant, colorful and sustainable destination. And sustainability is a key aspect of the strategic development of Ljubljana, which focuses not only on visitors, but also on local residents, the first and key ambassadors of the most beautiful city in the world.

We are the most desirable destination this year, not only for visitors from Europe but from all over the world.
