The Creative Hub Center Rog and Ljubljana Tourism have co-created two new experiences: "DIY at Center Rog: Mix Flavors and Styles." Visitors first learn about the history of one of the most significant industrial heritage buildings in 20th-century Ljubljana, which operated as a factory for 150 years, and gain behind-the-scenes insights into the creative labs of Center Rog. With the help of mentors, participants then either prepare a brunch using local ingredients in the culinary lab or design a unique printed T-shirt in the textile lab during a workshop. These experiences are available to both Slovenian and international guests during regular weekly sessions.

Discover Center Rog and Create Something Creative for Yourself

The new experiences developed by Center Rog and Ljubljana Tourism, in collaboration with the specialized agency Nea Culpa for the development of cultural and creative tourism experiences, are educational, creative, and relaxing, in line with the trends of creative tourism across Europe and the world. Visitors first learn about the incredible transformation of the factory, where leather goods, typewriters, and eventually the timeless Rog bicycles were produced, into a modern creative and social hub of the city. Together with a mentor from Rog, they explore the behind-the-scenes of creative labs for 3D printing and prototypes, textiles and jewelry, cooking, wood, metal, ceramics, glass, and green solutions. The most creative part of the experience takes place in one of the creative labs. In the textile lab, participants fold and paint patterns with the mentor, then print them using screen printing techniques, and leave with their own unique printed T-shirt. They can choose from typical views of Ljubljana’s streets, such as the Rog bicycles, distant alpine peaks, and the Ljubljanica River, or opt for abstract patterns and shapes. In the culinary workshop, participants mix a filling made from "dragon herb" (tarragon) and cottage cheese, and with a quick hand technique, prepare a savory puff pastry pie. They also take home two innovative recipes.

Available every Week

Both experiences are available every week at the same time. "Do it yourself: T-shirt design and printing at Center Rog" takes place every Monday at 11 a.m., while the "Do it yourself: savoury pie and brunch at Center Rog" experience is held every Wednesday at 11 a.m. They are designed for individual visitors and small groups of up to six people. Reservations can be made through the Ljubljana Tourism website or at the Tourist Information Center on Adamič-Lundrovo nabrežje 2.

Creative experiences for responsible visitors who want to experience more

Mastering new culinary techniques while overlooking the neighboring lab where innovative prototypes are being created, or experimenting with screen printing on cotton in a former factory that looks like a modernist city palace, is truly unique on a global scale. Through this experience offering, Ljubljana Tourism and Center Rog are addressing new generations of visitors who want to experience more, learn about the creative scene, and co-create with local masters. A growing segment of visitors interested in cultural and creative tourism includes millennials and so-called cultural surfers, who seek destinations that align with their values and spaces with rich heritage, architecture, and authentic offerings, where they can contribute to modern sustainable and circular practices or help preserve heritage through their purchases.

See you at Center Rog, where we'll mix history, styles, and flavors together!
