A new version of the visitljubljana.com website released before the tourist season
3 May 2016
April this year saw the release of a new version of the official tourist website of Ljubljana and the Central Slovenia region, managed by Ljubljana Tourism. The website, updated technically, visually, and in terms of content, now features a reconceived version of the MyVisit planner, which enables visitors to create their own guide to Ljubljana, updated conference pages, and a whole range of smaller improvements, such as the transition to a new e-news system and the integration of the website's map with Google Maps' route planner.
Designed to be a source of inspiration for visiting Ljubljana and its surrounding areas, the visitljubljana.com website is a rich source of information about the local tourism and event offerings. Apart from that, it allows visitors to book accommodation, hotel packages, guided city tours, day-trips around Slovenia, and a choice of other experiences and organized activities, as well as purchase their Ljubljana Card tourist pass.
Using the MyVisit trip planner, visitors to the website can save their favourite content and create their own guide to Ljubljana and Central Slovenia. They can send their itinerary to their email address, export it to the Visit Ljubljana mobile application (Android/iPhone) or create their personal PDF guide containing also a coherent compilation of practical information.
Seven website language options and special sections for business users
Approximately 95% of visitors to Ljubljana come from abroad, for which reason the Visitors section of the website is primarily targeted at foreign visitors and available in seven different languages (English, French , German, Italian, Russian, Slovenian, Spanish). The website also includes a B2B/Press section, which provides information for journalists and travel professionals, and a special Ljubljana Convention Bureau section, intended for conference and meeting organizers.
Since the release of the new version of the website, the Ljubljana Convention Bureau section has been better suited to trends on the global market for international meetings. Apart from an improved conference facility search function and a visually improved layout, it now also features descriptions of incentive travel programmes, complete with enquiry forms allowing conference and meeting organizers to get in touch directly with programme providers and have a two-way communication with them. Also new are the stories of successful meetings held in Ljubljana over recent years.
An award-winning entrance point for exploring Ljubljana and Central Slovenia
The visitljubljana.com website was launched in 2008. Since 2011, it has been promoting tourism not only in Ljubljana, but also in 25 of its surrounding municipalities forming the region of Central Slovenia. In 2012, the visitljubljana.com website was one of the first websites in Slovenia to use responsive web design and enable optimal viewing experiences on mobiles and tablets. The same year, it earned Ljubljana Tourism the Netko 2012 award for 'Best Digital Project' in the category Media and Information Portals. In 2014, Ljubljana Tourism received the international Digital Tourism Think Tank Award in the category of website content for the website's Tours and Trips section.
