Ljubljana Convention Bureau Consortium
The Ljubljana Convention Bureau, which operates as part of Ljubljana Tourism, is the principal pillar of a destination integration model called the Ljubljana Convention Bureau Consortium (LCB Consortium).
The aim of the LCB Consortium is to strengthen cooperation with all city stakeholders operating in the field of business meetings and other international meetings. The Consortium currently includes 46 partners from the public and private sectors, whose shared aim is to be as successful as possible in attracting international events to our city.
At the level of major events such as conventions and professional and business conferences, an international competition among cities hoping to host them is extremely strong. By their very nature, international events contribute to deseasonalisation, extending the length of stay and increasing visitors' average spending in a destination.
In order to successfully attract events of this type, project-based cooperation involving a range of stakeholders is required. In the case of the LCB Consortium, cooperation is coordinated by the Ljubljana Convention Bureau.
Principal tasks of the LCB Consortium:
- coordinated cooperation among stakeholders for maximally effective action,
- collection of data on the number and type of international meetings in Ljubljana,
- provision of support to candidates for major events requiring co-funding from the destination.
Participation in the LCB Consortium is free of charge. When an international event takes place with the support of the Ljubljana Tourism, the Ljubljana Convention Bureau prepares a cost distribution model in which those partners included in the project, participate with their individual contributions.
The establishment and proven effectiveness of the LCB Consortium also provide a completely new basis for cooperation with the University of Ljubljana and other academic and research institutions active in the international environment.
