During your visit to Škofja Loka you can see the locations in which the famous Škofja Loka Passion Play – inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity – takes place every six years. You can exercise your fingers making traditional Škofja Loka honey breads at a baking workshop, visit the town centre and sample local specialities.
After lunch, you will visit the picturesque valley of Poljanska Dolina, where you will sample the honey and other products of local beekeepers, learn about the giants of Slovene Impressionism and have a go at painting a beehive panel. Beehive panels are the pictorial records of local beliefs, wisdom and customs that have adorned beehives in Slovenia for centuries.
The trip ends with a visit to the Pustotnik Dairy Farm, famous for its cheeses, where you will learn about cheesemaking processes and have the opportunity to sample various types of cheese.
