Park in front of the Glasbena matica Ljubljana, Vegova ul. 5, 1000 Ljubljana

In 1872, one of the central Slovenian musical institutions, the Glasbena matica Ljubljana, was founded in Ljubljana. In the same year, Jože Plečnik, probably the most famous and influential of Slovenian architects, was born. It is well known that they had a close bond, affection and respect. 1932 was a year of important anniversaries for the Glasbena matica Ljubljana, which was already honourable at the time: alongside the 60th anniversary of its existence, there were also the 50th anniversary of the music school and the 40th anniversary of the choir. From that year onwards, Ljubljana's Vega Street has been marked by the Slovenian Composers' Avenue, designed by Plečnik on the initiative of the Glasbena matica Ljubljana. During the Second World War, Plečnik also created a plan for a new music hall for the Glasbena matica Ljubljana, which was never realised and is preserved in MGML.

On the platform in front of the Glasbena matica Ljubljana we will have the opportunity to listen to the youngest singers of the Glasbena matica Ljubljana in various ensembles.
