This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of photojournalist Marjan Ciglič (1924-1998), one of the most important Slovenian photojournalists of the twentieth century. He worked for more than 40 years for the Dnevnik newspaper and created a remarkable photographic opus comprising some 300,000 photographs. The resulting collection is an invaluable part of Slovenia’s national heritage and covers both simple moments from everyday life and the most high-profile political, social and economic events.

Ciglič’s story is placed in a broader historical context through photographs, diary entries and artefacts, and constitutes an unmistakable historical source for studying and understanding the lives of Slovenians
